Launch of hostilities in Iran may affect the situation in Armenia but not in Nagorno Karabakh, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said.

“Iran is one of our two neighbors we have relations with. Armenia has no ties with Azerbaijan and Turkey; only Iran and Georgia are left. International sanctions imposed on Iran hamper the development of its economic ties with Armenia, and they do not favor our state interests,” Sargsyan emphasized in an interview with Russian Kommersant paper.

PM believes military scenarios that may be implemented in Iran cut down Armenia’s opportunities for diversifying its economy, add to the country’s geopolitical risks and affect the investment attractiveness.

Sargsyan further added that Armenia is ready to face potential risks and challenges in case Iran decides to close its borders.

“We have a specific national doctrine outlining all possible risks and challenges. We must be prepared for different scenarios in terms of guaranteeing our national security,” he stated.
