Gyumri technopark to house up to 10 new IT companies

The Armenian government approved on April 5 the program for Gyumri technopark launch.

According to the Minister of Economy, Tigran Davtyan, the government aims to gradually reduce its participation in cooperation between the state and private sector; therefore the state budget will allocate less funding in 2012 as compared to 2011, namely AMD 163 million.

Davtyan said these resources will be targeted to establishment of 5-10 new IT companies in Gyumri technopark, with construction kicking off in a month.

In this regard, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan highlighted the importance of the fact that laboratories are already functioning today.

“We allocate resources so that the private sector could start working and provide its services on a single territory,” Sargsyan said.
