GEORGIAN RESIDENTS STILL DISCONTENTED WITH BAKU-TBILISI-CEYHAN OIL PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION
Residents of the Tsalka region of Georgia continue to express their discontent regarding Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline construction. As reported by A-info agency, the discontents began after the refusal to pay the indemnity for the ecological damages caused by the construction to the inhabitants of the villages situated along the pipeline. The fact is that the payments will only be provided for the villages, through which the oil pipeline is being built. Meanwhile, according to the preliminary agreement the indemnity should be paid to all the residents of the inhabited localities, situated at the distance of 25 kilometers from the pipeline.
