MONUMENT TO VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE TO BE SET UP IN KRAKOV
A monument-khachkar (cross stone) to victims of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 will be set up in Krakov Polish city. As reported by Arminfo news agency referring to the Polish press, the Turkish Embassy in Poland has come against gouging the word "genocide" on the monument. In response, Archimandrite of the Krakov cloister Tadeush Isahakian-Zaleski sent an open letter to the Turkish Ambassador, asking to give up attempts to interfere with the matter. "None of historians, respecting themselves, cannot deny that the Armenian Genocide of 1915 is a historical event and disputing whether to write the word "genocide" or not is senseless," the letter indicates. The ceremonial opening of the monument will be held April 17 with the support of the Armenian Society of Krakov and representatives of the Armenian diocese in Poland.
