Varuzhan Akobian finishes 2nd at Philadelphia Open chess tournament

Armenian grandmaster Varuzhan Akobian (U.S.) took 2nd prize in the 2012 Philadelphia Open chess tournament.

He gained 6,5 points out of 9, being only 0,5 point behind tournament leader GM Magesh Panchanathan from India who scored 7 points.

Indian GM won USD5500, while Varuzhan Akobian, Sergey Erenburg (Israel), Jon Hammer (Norway), Sam Shankland (U.S.), Alexander Stripunsky (U.S.), Axel Bachmann (Paraguay) and Mikheil Kekelidze (Georgia) scoring equal number of points got USD1044 each.
