Germany considers hosting Euro 2020

The German football federation (DFB) was considering putting in a bid for the 2020 European championships, president Wolfgang Niersbach said.

“Uefa, Europe's football organizing body, has sent out an invitation for Euro 2020 bids, and the matter would be discussed at DFB's executive committee meeting on April 27,” Niersbach said.

The deadline for the 53 member nations to apply to host the tournament has been set for May 15. Uefa will make a decision by late 2013 or early 2014 on the 2020 championships.

Euro 2012 will be held from June 8 to July 1 in Poland and Ukraine. Germany has hosted the championship only once, in 1988, according to supersport.com.
