Senate of U.S. state Maine recognizes Armenian Genocide

The Senate of the U.S. state Maine recognized the Armenian Genocide on Tuesday, April 10, according to wcsh6.com.

The resolution submitted to the Senate says that in 1915 the Ottoman Empire launched a campaign to wipe out the Armenian people, as result of which more than 1.5 million people died.

The authors of the resolution say that “some survivors settled here in Maine” and “they want to recognize those survivors' contributions to our state, and express sympathy for the families of those who died.”
