A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official dismissed the recent reports on the strained relations between Tehran and Ankara, and said the two neighboring countries “share common positions on different global developments.”
According to Fars News Agency, delivering a speech at Serbia's Alfa University on Wednesday, April 11, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast referred to Iran and Turkey as two major regional countries, and said “the two nations enjoy strategic relations based on several commonalties.”
Tehran and Ankara share identical views regarding many world developments, he said, adding, however, the two nations have some differences in views regarding the latest developments in Syria.
“Such differences would be settled through exchange of views and negotiations,” he noted.
Praising recent reforms made by the Syrian government, he said such reforms are supported by majority of the Syrian people. “Regional consultations particularly between Iran and Turkey would help resolve the existing problems in Syria,” Mehman-Parast stated.
