Handbook published ahead of parliamentary elections

Civil and Social Development Foundation presented a handbook comprising the programs, activities and goals of political parties running for the May 6 parliamentary elections in Armenia.

“Parliamentary elections 2012 in Armenia: parties running by proportional system” guidebook was developed with support of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.

“This handbook is a useful tool for helping Armenian voters; it will contribute to increased awareness in decision making and promote the informed choice,” deputy head of OSCE office in Yerevan Carel Hofstra said.

For his part, chairman of Civil and Social Development Foundation Samvel Alexanyan highlighted the importance of providing unbiased information about the political platforms, programs and goals of parties involved in the election race.

“It helps boost the citizens’ awareness and political activity, and allows for equal representation of parties to the public.

The Armenian edition has about 6000 copies to be distributed among political parties, NGOs, media and the public. Its e-version in English will also be launched soon,” Alexanyan stated.

Similar handbooks were also published in 2003 and 2007.
