Heritage boycotts meeting of public oversight headquarters

Parties running for parliamentary elections proposed their permanent representatives in the single public oversight headquarters at the 3rd headquarters meeting at the Political Analysts Union.

The opposition Armenian National Congress proposed Stepan Minasyan, Prosperous Armenia offered Vahe Enfiajyan, while ARF Dashnaktsutyun will be represented by Hamlet Abrahamyan, to be replaced by Spartak Seyranyan in Abrahamyan’s absence.

Heritage party did not participate in April 18 meeting because its earlier proposal to the headquarters failed to be approved. Heritage suggested that a document providing a comprehensive insight into the headquarters’ key functions be signed by top leadership of each party.

ANC and Prosperous Armenia refused the offer, and Heritage decided to boycott the headquarters’ work. Head of Political Analysts Union Hmayak Hovhannisyan said Heritage is still included in the single headquarters, with party’s deputy chairman Ruben Hakobyan signing the agreement.

“We respect their signature and do not consider them to be ill-willed. We’ll wait for them to propose a representative,” he said.

ANC representative Levon Zurabyan stated that Heritage may join the headquarters’ activities any time they wish.

Dashnaktsutyun’s member Armen Rustamyan emphasized that this format is open to all political forces, and anyone willing to join may not hesitate to do it.

Prosperous Armenia’s Vartan Oskanian said he also supported participation of Heritage, as well as other political forces.

Further meetings of the headquarters will be held on a weekly basis.
