Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan met with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano to discuss Armenia’s cooperation with IAEA in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy, particularly provision of technical assistance aimed to boost safety of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant were on discussion agenda.

The parties further focused on construction of the new power plant, creation of a relevant infrastructure, as well as licensing and retraining of personnel.

According to press service of RA Ministry of Energy, they further dwelt on increasing possibilities of RA State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee and long-term programs targeting development of radiotherapy.

IAEA delegation also visited the Armenian NPP, where they were briefed on events aiming to boost its security.
