3 Armenian chess players only 0.5 point behind Dubai Open leader

Open Chess Championship is underway in Dubai, with Vladimir Akopian beating Babu Lalith from India in the 4th round.

Tigran L. Petrosian gained victory over Ukraine’s Alexander Kovchan and Zaven Andriasian defeated Georgia’s David Arutinian.

Armenia’s Robert Hovhannisyan won over Talal Hilwani from Syria, while Vahe Baghdasaryan beat Mihail Chommyyev (Turkmenistan).

Avetik Grigoryan - Murali Karthikeyan (India) and Gevorg Harutyunyan - Nagueb Saleh (UAE) matches ended in a draw.

Karen Grigoryan lost to Moldova’s Viorel Iordachescu and Davit Petrosian proved weaker than Ukraine’s Vladimir Baklan.

Following the 4th round, Petrosian is up to 3rd place; Akopian and Andriasian come 5th and 7th respectively, all with 3.5 points.

Dubai Open leader Hua Ni (China) has 4 points.
