Expert: Armenia must’s be “Disney-land” for Diaspora

Armenia should not be a “Disney-land” for Diaspora, director of the Regional Studies Center said.

Richard Giragosian stressed the need for Diaspora Armenians’ engagement in social-political life of the country, besides only staying at Marriott hotel.

“Armenia’s domestic problems related to security, economy and human rights must be in focus, too,” the expert said.

Mr. Giragosian further stressed the need for creating conditions for resettlement of Diaspora Armenians in motherland. He noted oligarchic system and lack of relevant opportunities as the key hindering factors.

The political analyst stressed absence of democracy and polarization between the rich and the poor as problems for both Armenian’s population and Diaspora Armenians.
