Expert: Armenian-Turkish protocols have no future

Armenian -Turkish protocols have no future, Director of RA NAS Institute of Oriental Studies said.

“They have already played their role, both positive and negative,” Ruben Safrastyan said at Yerevan-Moscow space bridge on “Time can’t erase the memory.”

Dwelling on Armenia’s withdrawal of signature from the protocols, the expert noted, “These documents are dead. That’s evident.”

Senior fellow at the Institute of Political and Social Studies of the Black Sea and Caspian region Andrei Areshev also agreed with Mr. Safrastyan.

Protocols on normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations were signed October 10, 2009 in Zurich. However, on April 22, 2010, Armenian President signed a decree to suspend Protocols ratification, in view of unfounded ratification delay at Turkish parliament.
