Armenian official: Turkey pressured into Genocide recognition

Recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the interests of Turkey, Shavarsh Kocharyan said on April 24.

“Without recognizing the crime against humanity, Turkey will have no future prospects,” deputy foreign minister of Armenia told the journalists during his visit to Tsitsernakaberd memorial to Genocide victims.

Kocharyan believes that the Genocide recognition is inevitable, seeing as crimes against humanity are becoming condemned as time goes on.

At the same time, according to the official, Turkey is being pressured into Genocide recognition.

“Turkish authorities are not yet ready to acknowledge the Genocide. They are not guided by principles and values proclaimed on their European integration path, but rather follow ones adopted in the Ottoman Empire,” he emphasized.

In conclusion, the official urged Ankara for ratification and implementation of Armenian-Turkish.
