Cypriot politician: Greek population of Cyprus will back Armenia

On April 23-24, Cyprus hosted several Armenian Genocide commemorative events. On April 23 evening Armenian youth representatives marched to the Virgin Mary church and Narek School.

Armenian community representatives of Nicosia joined the youth in Armenia street. Armenian community representative Vardges Mahtesian and speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus Yiannakis Omirou joined the participants during the commemorative events at Memorial to Armenian Genocide martyrs.

“We are obliged to continue the struggle. The Greek population of Cyprus will always back the Armenian people, another victim of Turkish violence,” Mr. Omirou said.

On April 24, a liturgy honoring the memory of Genocide victims was served at Armenian Church in Cyprus, gibrahayer.com reported.
