STEPANAKERT CONSIDERS AZERI CAMPAIGN AGAINST COOPERATION OF FOREIGN FIRMS WITH KARABAKH TELECOM ABSURD
Head of the Press Service of the Government of Nagorno Karabakh David Mikayelian called absurd the campaign lately launched by Baku against the telecommunication network of the NKR - Karabakh Telecom CJSC. As D. Mikayelian told Arminfo agency, Nagorno Karabakh is already mature in the economic respect and the efforts of its Government aim at forming a favorable investment climate, of which various foreign companies make use being sure the cooperation will be mutually beneficial. In his words, foreign investments in the Nagorno Karabakh economy already reach $50 million. Karabakh Telecom company is one of the largest investors in the NKR economy, the governmental spokesman reported. At that he noted that the effective communication system is a significant factor in settling relations between states and peoples. So hindering its functioning is at least anti-humane. The Baku posture, in D. Mikayelian's words, is a manifestation of the traditional policy pursued by the Azeri authorities, aimed at impeding positive phenomena in Nagorno Karabakh. It should be reminded that according to the reports of Baku sources, the conclusion of an agreement on cooperation between Karabakh Telecom and the Tashkent office of Daewoo Unitel had caused indignation of the Azeri authorities.
