The UN says international monitors have moved into another hot spot in Syria to try to stop violence, AP reported.

The monitoring team's spokesman, Neeraj Singh, said Friday, April 27 two observers have been stationed in the southern city of Daraa. That's where the uprising against President Bashar Assad's rule began 13 months ago.

Activists were planning more anti-regime protests on Friday.

The UN has 15 monitors in Syria. They are visiting flashpoints to try to salvage a plan that calls for an end to the fighting.

Despite the plan, violence has continued. An amateur video posted online Thursday shows people carrying the body of a boy said to have been shot dead by Syrian troops. UN vehicles are seen nearby.

The UN has approved increasing the mission to 300 observers.
