New iPad reaching nine additional countries April 27

Apple is launching its new iPad in nine additional countries, making the device available in a total of 57 markets worldwide, PC Magazine reports.

The third-generation Apple tablet will be making its way to Colombia, Estonia, India, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, South Africa, and Thailand on April 27. The prices for the new iPad will stay the same, starting at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi-only model, and going as high as $829 for the 64GB 4G version. Apple said, however, that 4G LTE is only available in the U.S. and Canada.

The new iPad features a Retina display, quad-core GPU, and an improved 5-megapixel iSight camera. Apple first announced the updated tablet on March 7, and it went on sale in the U.S. on March 16. On the day of the U.S. launch, many Apple Stores featured long lines of shoppers eager to purchase the "resolutionary" new tablet.

The rollout in nine countries is the fourth wave of launches for the new iPad since March. Last week, the coveted tablet launched in South Korea, Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malaysia, Panama, St Maarten, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Apple still has not revealed when its coveted new tablet will hit store shelves in China, despite the high demand for its products there. Apple CEO Tim Cook last year notably called China, Apple's second-largest market outside of the U.S., "very key" to Apple's financial results.

Possibly factoring into the delay of the new iPad launch is Apple's legal battle with Chinese computer monitor maker Proview over the iPad name.
