Davutoğlu to receive "Leader of 21st Century" award

The International League of Humanists said they will bestow the "Leader of 21st Century" on Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu on May 4.

The League is comprised of Bosnian, Serbian and Croatian intellectuals and is based in Sarajevo and will present Davutoğlu's award during his visit there, Hurriyet Daily News reports.

Speaking to Anatolia News Agency, Secretary General of the International League of Humanists said that Davutoğlu “deserved the award for his contributions to the improvement of relations between the Balkan countries.”

Among the recipients of the "Leader of 21st Century" award in the past were Pope John Paul II, who visited Sarajevo after the war, and former President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Juan Antonio Samaranch who passed away in 2010.
