David Nalbandian names Davis Cup victory his goal

Ahead of the launch of Belgrade tournament David Nalbandian stressed victory in Davis Cup and making it to the Olympic Games as the fundamental goal for him.

Asked about his expectations over getting a wildcard for the Madrid Masters, he said, “it’s always very nice to receive a wildcard and even more so for a tournament as important as Madrid, an event that I've won. Compared to 2007, first of all and most importantly, the surface has changed. When I won it in 2007, it was on hardcourt and indoors, now it's on clay.

As for myself, I'm five years older now and I've also had several surgeries,” Nalbandian's official fan blog quoted the player as saying.

Dwelling on Davis Cup final, during which Argentina is due to face off against Czech Republic, the player deemed Czech team a great one with two very tough players like Tomáš Berdych and Radek Stepanek.

These days Nalbandian will rival the winner of Martin Kližan-Aljaž Bedene match in Serbian Open. On May 1 with Eduardo Schwank he will face off against Jordan Kerr- Dudi Sela pair.
