A monument to prisoners of war of various nationalities, who participated in construction works in Armenia after the World War II, will be erected in Yerevan. The project will be realized on the initiative of Chairman of the Union of Armenians of Hungary Aleksan Avanesian with the financial support of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of Hungary, as well the Armenian Nation union. As A. Avanesian told Armenpress news agency, a monument to Armenian soldiers, who gave their lives to unyoke Hungary from the fascists, had been set up in Budapest in 2000. In his words, the construction of the monument in Yerevan will be a peculiar response step. "I suppose the Armenians, who have lost their relatives in Hungary, will come here and will lay flowers, as they do not have the opportunity to visit Hungary frequently," Aleksan Avanesian said. According to his data, after the World War II 500 captive Hungarians worked in Spitak and Sevan Armenian towns. The ceremony of opening of the monument will take place in a few months.
