Amazon’s LoveFilm inks distribution deal with NonStop Entertainment

Amazon's European Internet streaming and DVD-delivery service LoveFilm has signed a new distribution deal with Swedish indie group NonStop Entertainment for Scandinavian rights to some 150 films, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The agreement includes titles such as Paul Giamatti-starrer American Splendor, the documentary Yves Saint Laurent: L'amour Fou and It's a Free World from British director Ken Loach.

LoveFilm will offer the NonStop titles on its online streaming service in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

The agreement is part of a series of deals with local independent distributors that LoveFilm has been doing in the territories it operates in: the UK, Germany and Scandinavia. LoveFilm recently inked with Germany's Tobis and Koch Media and, in the UK, stocked up on Brit TV content with streaming deals with the BBC and ITV.

In part, the Amazon-subsidiary is looking to strengthen its position to ward off Netflix, which has launched in the UK and Ireland and has announced plans for a further European roll-out.
