RPA forced people to vote in Sisian town, paper reports

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) had forced people to participate in parliamentary elections in Armenia’s town of Sisian, Yerkir paper reports.

According to the paper, RPA made them vote for the party by proportional system and its nominee running by majority system.

Yerkir got alarming reports from Sisian on May 6 saying that chiefs of local institutions gather their employees and make them vote for their “favourite” candidate and party.

According to the paper, those opposing the pressure were threatened with dismissal from work.

People were instructed to come to a certain place on certain time so that “nobody could escape the process of expressing their free will,” the paper reports.
