Political expert says Republic party’s withdrawal from ANC insignificant

Political expert Alexander Iskandaryan believes the withdrawal of Republic party from Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc to be an insignificant event.

As the expert told a news conference, the split up inside ANC may continue, with enough conflicts brewing in the bloc even before the parliamentary poll.

“However, those conflicts won’t affect the further political role of the Congress, with ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian acting as a binding agent. ANC isn’t monolithic, however, only the withdrawal of Ter-Petrossian, rather than separate parties, may mean the end of the bloc,” the expert concluded.
