Canadian director David Cronenberg is to be the focus of the Toronto International Film Festival’s first touring exhibition, The Hollywood Reporter said.

As Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis bows in Cannes this week, Toronto organizers said Bell Lightbox, their year-round home, will mount a major exhibition about the Canadian director, screenwriter and actor.

The Cronenberg exhibition will launch in Fall 2013, and will be co-curated by TIFF topper Piers Handling and artistic director Noah Cowan.

The TIFF exhibition will start touring in summer 2014.

“This exhibition underscores our commitment to Canadian film and its legacy, through our 20-year history of working with David to preserve his papers and objects in a special archive, and our efforts to restore and make available his film catalogue,” said Handling.

The Cronenberg exhibition follows earlier showcases of work by Tim Burton, Federico Fellini and another upcoming about the films of the James Bond franchise.

Toronto will also create a multi-platform augmented reality game, The Worlds of David Cronenberg, to complement the exhibition, and a film programme with new 35mm prints and digital versions of select films.
