ARMENIANS OF TURKEY INTEND TO ATTAIN ARMENIAN RADIO AND TV BROADCASTS
Representatives of the Armenian community of Turkey have addressed the Supreme Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting of the country demanding to confer them rights for transmitting TV and radio programs in Armenian. As it is known, the Turkish authorities have allowed transmission of programs in Kurdish, Assyrian and Laz languages. As reported by Zaman Turkish newspaper, editor of "Akos" Armenian weekly being issued in Istanbul Hrant Dink stated that the local Armenian community had gathered means to open an Armenian radio station. "We hope to collect the necessary $300 thousand and to start the radio broadcasts before the end of this year," Dink said.
