Politician slams Azeri complaint of Stepanakert’s military parade

Director of the Institute of CIS Countries commented on Azerbaijan’s complaint to the UN Secretary-General of conduction of a military parade in Stepanakert on May 9.

“Had Azerbaijan not maintained war rhetoric and threatened to use force, perhaps it would have had the moral basis to be alarmed,” Konstantin Zatulin told a press conference.

According to him, Baku’s militaristic stance was conveyed in both the statements of Azerbaijan’s officials, including Ilham Aliyev and the state policy of the country, whose military budget exceeds that of Armenia.

The politician further slammed Azeri authorities’ decision to declare everyone to have visited Nagorno Karabakh Republic persona non grata. -st-
