Armenia’s National Assembly elected the chairmen of standing parliamentary committees based on the D'Hondt method (a highest averages method for allocating seats in party-list proportional representation.)
As was announced before, the representatives of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) got 8 seats out of 12, while the remaining 4 committee chairmanships went to Prosperous Armenia.
The appointments were as follows: Artak Zakaryan (RPA) appointed the chair of Standing Committee on Foreign Relations; David Harutyunyan (RPA) – the chair of Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs; Koryun Nahapetyan (RPA) – the chair of Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs; Ara Babloyan (RPA) – the chair of Standing Committee on Health Care, Maternity and Childhood; Artak Davtyan (RPA) – the chair of Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport; Hakob Hakobyan (RPA) – the chair of Standing Committee on Social Affairs; Gagik Minasyan (RPA) – the chair of Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs; Vardan Ayvazyan (RPA) – the chair of Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.
Prosperous Armenia representatives were appointed as follows: Naira Zohrabyan – the chair of Standing Committee on European Integration, Samvel Balasanyan – the chair of Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment; Stepan Margaryan – the chair of Standing Committee on Territorial Management and Local Self-Government; Elinar Vardanyan – the chair of Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs.
