ARMENIAN PRESIDENT AND GAZPROM DEPUTY HEAD DISCUSSED BUILDING IRANIAN-ARMENIAN GAS PIPELINE
Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Gazprom Russian stock company delegation, headed by Board Deputy Chairman Alexander Ryazanov, discussed questions of the building of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline. As reported by Armenian leader's Press Service, in the course of the meeting the current state of gas supplies to Armenia and prospective programs in the field were also discussed. R. Kocharian said he was satisfied with the present level of cooperation of the republic with Gazprom. Upon the completion of the meeting with the President of Armenia, Ryazanov reported that the building of the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline would cost $140 million. These may be either state credits or Gazprom means. It should be reminded that May 13, 2004 Armenia and Iran signed an agreement on supplying Iranian gas to Armenia for a term of 20 years. Within this period 36 billion cubic meters of gas will be supplied to the republic from Iran in exchange for electric power.
