Microsoft to unveil Office for iPad in Nov

Microsoft will be rolling out its Office suite of products for the iPad in November, Business Insider said, citing a source familiar with Microsoft's Office sales team.

According the source, the suite is likely to be introduced at Microsoft's SharePoint conference in Las Vegas, which starts on November 12. It will be available to buy for the holiday season, Microsoft will start doing volume licensing at the start of 2013.

Other news outlets have been reporting a similar timeline. Last week, The Daily reported Microsoft was going to release Office for iPad in November. Two weeks before that BGR also reported the same.

Microsoft is a company supported largely through two cash cows: Windows and Office.

Selling Office on the iPad might seem odd because it makes Apple's Windows-killing tablet computer stronger. However, Microsoft will make a lot of money on Office for iPad.

Further, as Dan Frommer noted earlier this year, if the only thing that makes Windows, or Windows tablets special is the fact that it has Office, then Microsoft is going to be in trouble, according to Business Insider.
