Robert Zemeckis’s “Flight” trailer features Denzel Washington as hero pilot

The first trailer for Robert Zemeckis’s “Flight” was released, The Washington Post said.

In the film, Denzel Washington plays a pilot who manages to land a passenger plane that has suffered engine failure (think “Miracle On The Hudson” without the water) and then becomes the subject of intense media interest. But his story — hero lands plane! — is complicated when it’s discovered he had alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.

The film also stars Don Cheadle as Washington’s lawyer, Melissa Leo as the head of an NTSB investigation and John Goodman as his buddy.

“Flight” marks Zemeckis’s return to live-action films after a 12-year hiatus. The “Back to the Future” director’s last credits are motion capture movies including “The Polar Express” and “Beowulf.”
