“DigiTech 2012” 5th annual business forum kicked off in Yerevan, bringing together 59 local and foreign companies.

“This year 38 local and 21 foreign companies from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Denmark, the Netherlands, Great Britain and other countries participate in the forum,” executive director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) Karen Vardanyan said.

In his speech, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stressed knowledge and intellect as significant resources for development of Armenia’s economy.

“The forum has proved its effectiveness, with the rapid growth of IT sector testifying to it. The number of employees in this field currently reaches the employment level in the mining industry. Armenia’s IT development rate is the highest in the region. IT sector is in need of professionals,” PM Sargsyan said.

DigiTech is a two-day business forum, speculating organization of seminars and an exhibition.
