The freight volume of South Caucasian Railway (SCR) CJSC in January-May 2012 amounted to 1243.7 thousand tons, increasing by 8.4% over the same period in 2011.

In the first five months of 2012 SCR transported 179.3 thousand tons of cargo in export which is over the same period in 2011 to 21.9%.

The volume of cargo in import traffic was 478.3 thousand tons, which is 1.4% lower than in January-May of last year. In local traffic during the reporting period of 2012 through railway 586.1 thousand tons of cargo were transported, 13.9% more than in January-May 2011.

It is noteworthy that in May 2012 the volume of SCR freight traffic increased by 29.9% compared with last year’s same period.

The volume of export traffic increased by 22.7%, import by 44.6%, and local by 21.7%, SCR press service reported.
