David Harutyunyan wins Karen Asryan Memorial gold

Georgia-based grandmaster David Harutyunyan won 5th Karen Asryan Memorial gold, gaining 7,5 points out of 9 possible.

Armenia’s Avetik Grigoryan, Artashes Minasyan and Levon Babujyan shared 2-4th places.

The tournament, with a prize fund of $18,5 thous. brought together 57 chess players, including 13 grandmasters.

Karen Asryan, the Armenian grandmaster, 2006 chess Olympian, died at the age of 28 in 2008. The Chess Giants tournament, which was halted over his death, was later named after him.
