ARMENIA ELECTED MEMBER OF UN UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION COUNCIL
Within the framework of the UN Universal Postal Union (UPU) 3-rd congress, election of the UPU leadership and other structures was held in Bucharest September 29. A representative of France was elected UPU International Bureau director, while a Chinese representative became his deputy. As reported by the Press Service of the foreign department of Armenia, the country was elected member of the UPU executive council, which has 40 member states and coordinates the UPU activities. It should be noted that the UPU is a specialized agency of the United Nations, which forms a unified postal territory with easy international exchange of mail between states.
