Egypt’s new President seeks closer ties with Iran

Egypt's newly-elected President Mohammed Mursi is enthusiastic to expand ties with Iran.

"Relations between Tehran and Cairo will create a strategic balance in the region. It is a part of my agenda," Mursi told Fars News Agency on Sunday, June 24, hours before the final results of the presidential election was announced.

He also rejected rumors that he country's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) seeks to decrease his presidency term to one year.
