Large amount of ammunition has been found on the roadside in Azerbaijan’s Absheron region, Azerbaijani Emergency Ministry's official website said on Friday, June 29.

The ministry received a report that on the side of Fatmai-Pirshagi road in Absheron region a large amount of ammunition was found. Rescuers and specialists of the Ministry were immediately sent to the scene.

Rescuers carried out on-site safety measures; Emergency Ministry's specialists as well as experts from relevant structures inspected discovered ammunition. As a result, 54 items of explosive ordnance (grenades, etc.), 1,771 items of ammunition (magazines for submachine guns, cartridges for shotguns, etc.) were confirmed as suitable for use.

Discovered ammunition was defused and transferred to the appropriate authorities, Trend News reported.
