Rolls-Royce reportedly gets $183mln army contract

British engine maker Rolls-Royce has received a contract worth up to $183 million to service some engines for the Army's fleet of Kiowa Warrior scout helicopters, according to the Associated Press.

The contract covers 500 M250 engines on more than 300 helicopters. The pact begins this month, with options to extend it for four additional years. The $183 million figure assumes that the contract will be extended for four years.

Rolls-Royce has provided support for Kiowa Warrior helicopters for 13 years. Its MissionCare program, geared toward military customers, has contracts with the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.
