President Sargsyan: Armenia values Belgium’s recognition of Genocide

On July 13, newly-appointed Belgian Ambassador Guy Trouveroy (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

Congratulating the envoy on his appointment, the President stressed Armenia’s interest in further development of ties with Belgium.

President Sargsyan thanked the authorities and people of Belgium for assistance offered to Armenia throughout 20 years of the country’s independence, as well as offering a refuge to Armenian Genocide survivors.

As the President noted, Armenia greatly values Belgium’s official recognition of 1915 Genocide in Ottoman Empire.

The Ambassador, in turn, stressed the role of Belgium’s Armenian community in strengthening of bilateral ties, and perpetuating Belgium’s respect for the history and culture of the Armenian nation, presidential press service reported.
