Zurich Film Fest to honor “Ocean’s Eleven” producer Jerry Weintraub

Veteran Hollywood producer Jerry Weintraub, whose credits include the Ocean’s Eleven and Karate Kid franchises, will receive this year’s lifetime achievement award, the Golden Eye, at the 2012 Zurich Film Festival, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The Zurich fest will honor Weintraub on Sept. 26, his 75th birthday. The festival will also screen a selection of his best-known films, including Ocean’s Eleven, The Karate Kid, Carl Reiner’s George Burns-comedy Oh, God, Barry Levinson’s Diner and the Robert Altman classic Nashville as well as His Way, the Emmy-nominated HBO documentary on Weintraub’s life.

Weintraub’s latest project is the Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra, which Steven Soderbergh is directing for HBO Films and which stars Michael Douglas as the legendary pianist. Warner Bros. has also signed off on Weintraub’s new live-action version of Tarzan, planned for 2013.

The Zurich Film Festival runs Sept. 20-30.
