Wi-Fi, 3G hubs banned from London Olympics

London 2012 organisers have warned that smart devices must not be used as wireless access points inside Olympic venues, PCR reported.

With any big event there are prohibited items, but along with the usual ban on guns, knives, explosives and illegal substances, London 2012 venues will have a ban on wireless access points and 3G hubs.

Although smart devices such as Android phones, iPhone and tablets are permitted inside the venues, they must not be used as wireless access points to connect multiple devices.

However, the official list of prohibited items does not mention BlackBerry or Windows phones.
