"RUSSIAN OFFICIALS SHOULD BE REMINDED WE OWE THEM NOTHING," AZG NEWSPAPER CONSIDERS
"It is difficult to say how would the Karabakh war end, if Armenian had pinned their hopes on the Russians. Moreover, Russian officials should be reminded we do not owe them for the victory in the war. Quite the contrary, in 1990-91 just Azerbaijan was Russian (or soviet) advanced post and Russian troops headed the operation of annihilation and deportation of the residents of Getashen and Shahumian regions…" Azg newspaper today's issue writes touching upon the discussions launched in the society over the latest statement of the Russian State Duma Speaker B. Gryzlov that "Armenia is an advanced post of Russia" and the response of Armenian officials, as well as President of Azerbaijan I. Aliyev. On account of the latter the newspaper specifically reminds that Armenians won the Artsakh war owing to the faith in their own strength when confronting Azerbaijan and the Kremlin being its ally at the time. At the same time Azg considers it is not the first statement made by Russian officials, which is insulting to the Armenian party. The newspaper also considers that the response of Armenian representatives to Gryzlov's words is too late. Specifically, the article author expresses an opinion that Armenian Parliament Speaker A. Baghdasarian should have responded to Gryzlov's words the same day they were said.
