Car bomb kills 9, injures 68 near Turkish-Syrian border

A car laden with explosives was detonated on Aug 20 in Turkey’s eastern province of Gaziantep, near the Syrian border, killing at least 9 people and wounding 68, Hürriyet Daily News reported.

Assailants remotely detonated the explosives at around 7:45 pm after parking the car at a bus stop near Karşıyaka Police Station in the province's Şehitkamil district, the reports said.

Two passenger buses were burned and nine people were killed, according to initial reports.

Paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene and wounded people were taken to hospitals.

Security forces have launched an investigation to apprehend the militants.
