Turkish terror attack another reason for Azeri media to blame ASALA

Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) recently issued a statement on Syrian Armenian community’s security.

“Any military adventurism or any direct or indirect violation of the security and the social cohesion of the Armenian community of Syria on the part of Turkey will be met by similar counter-measures,” it reads.

On August 20, 8 people were killed, 60 injured in car explosion in south-eastern Turkey. A car bomb exploded close to a police station in the city of Gaziantep near the Syrian border.

Azerbaijani media outlets grabbed the chance to mention ASALA behind the blast.

“ASALA is blamed for anything that happens in Turkey,” ASALA representative Vazgen Sislyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, dubbing linkage of ASALA statement with Turkish act of terror as subsequent verbiage.

ASALA announced about termination of its activities back in 1991 with Armenia declaring independence.
