Treble Olympic champion Usain Bolt says he will defend his sprint titles at the 2016 Olympics in Rio but also wants to try out in the long jump, metro.co.uk reported.

Jamaican Bolt created history at London 2012 when he not only became the first athlete ever to retain the 100m and 200m titles, but also won gold in the 4x100m relay for the second Games running.

He has now revealed he would like to have a go at the long jump as well - shortly after reigning Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford said he would like to try his luck in the 4x100m relay.

‘Yes definitely I will be there [in Rio], as long as I’m fit and I’m ready,’ confirmed Bolt. ‘It’ll be a little bit harder but I’m looking forward to it.

‘It’s just about making different goals, there’s a lot of things I can do in the sport. ‘My coach wants me to do 400 metres, I want to try long jump.

‘I could always try to aim for the records again, so there’s different things but after the season we’ll decide what we want to do and work on that next season.’
