Amazon starts accepting promo images from app developers

Amazon has started accepting images from app developers and publishers that will be used in ‘featured placements’ to more effectively market them to end users, The Next Web reports.

The news was announced on Amazon’s Mobile App Distribution Blog and in an email to developers.

The company is urging app developers and publishers to use ‘colorful, engaging imagery’ (which must be 1024×500 pixels, in PNG or JPG format) that ‘reflects the essence’ of their mobile applications.

Text can be added, but not the price of or discounts for the app or anything like that.

Amazon notes that it will be expanding its use of uploaded promo images to ‘new marketing opportunities’, without going into further detail. The company is urging app developers and publishers to use ‘colorful, engaging imagery’ that ‘reflects the essence’ of their mobile applications.

“Promotional images should be 1024 x 500 pixels and in PNG or JPG format. We encourage you to submit your promotional image now to take advantage of these new marketing opportunities,” Amazon said.
