“Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away” 3D named Tokyo Film Fest opener

Andrew Adamson’s Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away in 3D is to be the world premiere opener of Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) on Oct. 20, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The cinematic version of Cirque du Soleil’s extravagant acrobatic stage shows is executive produced by James Cameron, whose Titanic opened the 1997 edition of TIFF with its world premiere.

Adamson (Shrek) wrote, directed and produced the project, which is scheduled for a December release, for Paramount Pictures.

This year’s TIFF, the 25th edition, will run Oct. 20-28 at Tokyo’s Roppongi Hills complex.
