Armenia to increase Iraq exports

Armenian Economy Minister commented on plans to intensify trade and economic relations as well as boost investments with Iraq during September 6 business forum.

Iraqi delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Rozh Nouri Shaways is visiting Yerevan from September 4 through 7.

At the event, Tigran Davtyan stressed the visit as unprecedented, expressing hope for Armenia and Iraq to strengthen economic ties along with ongoing high-level political cooperation.

“Preliminary agreements were concluded to export a number of products ranging from food to IT production to Iraq, with the export production assortment to be increased in future,” Davtyan said.

According to Armenian Minister, a number of visits to Armenian enterprises have been planned to familiarize Iraqi businessmen with production process.

In 2011, product turnover between Armenia and Iraq totaled $19,8 mln, with export and import share grossing $4,9 and 14,9 mln respectively.

Exported from Armenia to Iraq were cigarettes, ferrous materials, while the following products were imported: oil, oil products, bituminous substances.
