Brad Pitt has discussed his reunion with Ridley Scott, Digital Spy reported.

The star's appearance in Scott's upcoming drama The Counselor will mark their first collaboration since 1991's Thelma & Louise, which Pitt described as his first shot at "the big leagues".

"Ridley gave me my shot into film, he let me in the big leagues," Pitt told Digital Spy. "So it's really nice to return and do something with him."

Pitt will play a shady character assisting Michael Fassbender's protagonist, a hard-up attorney who becomes involved with cocaine trading on the Mexican border.

He went on to discuss his admiration for novelist Cormac McCarthy, who wrote the screenplay for The Counselor.

"I've probably read every word this man's published more than once, most of them more than once," Pitt admitted.

Production resumed on The Counselor last week, after Scott took a hiatus from filming to mourn the death of his brother Tony Scott.

The Counselor is set for release in the US on November 15, 2013, with a UK release date yet to be set.
